Matthew A. Lucas

Matthew A. Lucas, 30, of Zion Grove, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday.

Born in Hazleton, Aug. 20, 1985, he was a son of Linda Moyer Lucas and A. Michael Lucas, both of Zion Grove.

He attended Shenandoah Valley High School and then Hazleton High School, playing football for both schools. After high school, he entered the carpentry program at Pennsylvania College of Technology, Williamsport.

Matthew worked for Long Fence Co.

He was the former vice president of Zion Grove Hunting Club, and enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as playing pool, darts and golf. He had a contagious smile and always tried to make everyone else smile.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Kelly McCrudden Lucas and their son, Nevin Matthew Lucas, Zion Grove; a sister, Denise, wife of Michael Blanchek, Bloomsburg; a brother, Stephen and his wife, Melissa, Drums; a niece, Lorelei Lucas; two nephews, Nolan Lucas and Mikey Blanchek; aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Zion Grove, followed by interment in Mount Zion Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Matthew's family from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 W. Main St., Ringtown. Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home is assisting Matthew's family during their time of need.
