William 'Chopper' Rumbel Obituary

William 'Chopper' Rumbel, 73, of Frackville, passed away Saturday, January 16th, 2021 at the Lebanon VA Medical Center.

Born in Shenandoah, on March 18, 1947, he was a son of the late Bessie (Berresford) and Claude Rumbel.

After high school, Chopper served in the Unites States Army. He was retired, having last worked as a delivery driver for Wargo Coal and Oil, Inc. of McAdoo.

Chopper enjoyed going up the river fishing as well as going out on the lake in his boat.  He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa  Rumbel. Chopper lost her in the 1990's, and his devotion to her led him to a 25 plus year journey of helping not only himself, but others experience sobriety.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Keith; and by a brother, Claude 'Red' Rumbel, Jr.

Chopper is survived by a son, William Rumbel; two grandchildren, Ashley and Brittany and two great grandchildren; Ethan and Cameron.  He is also survived by two sisters, Wendy Rumbel and Barbara Marnell Miersky, and three brothers, David Rumbel, Robert Rumbel and Paul Rumbel, along with nieces nephews and many friends.

Chopper will be laid to rest alongside his wife following graveside services at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Frackville on Monday, January 25th at 11 AM.

Relatives and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the 11 AM graveside service.  All Covid-19 protocols for social distancing and wearing of masks will be adhered to.
