Robert M. Medlinsky, 87, of Raven Run, passed away peacefully supported by his family and many friends on Wednesday, March 2, 2022.
Born in William Penn on August 9th, 1934, Robert was the son of the late Helen (Stepulaitis) and Stanley Medlinsky.
He was a 1952 graduate of West Mahanoy Township High School and a day after graduation he left to serve his country with the United States Air Force. Robert was a proud and decorated veteran of the Korean War with the rank of Staff Sargeant, while earning the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Robert was a talented machinist by trade, graduating from Williamsport Technical Institute. He last worked for and retired from Axiom Inc.
An avid fan of watching sporting events, Robert especially liked Duke basketball. He supported his twin grandchildren by attending their sporting and school activities. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran church in Ringtown and was an active member of the Ringtown Senior Citizens.
In his earlier days, Robert enjoyed the outdoors. He was a successful hunter, evident by his numerous deer racks that line his basement rafters. He loved fishing and boating at Lake Wynonah during his time as a property owner at the lake, landing many lunkers to his delight. He was also an active runner until foot problems turned him to weightlifting, which he was still partaking in until this past Christmas. Robert frequented many local gyms and was the envy of many younger weightlifters. He could always be seen riding his tractor while mowing his lawn and tending to his garden and unrivaled garlic patch. Robert had a big heart and a generous soul. He was the protector of his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Albert and his twin sister, Dorothy Prantow.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joan (Bitting) Medlinsky, along with their daughter, Pam, wife of Bill Conroy. Twin grandchildren Abby and Will, a sister, Jean Medlinsky of California and a sister-in-law, Carol Leise of Colorado. Also surviving are nieces Christine Prantow, Sheri Leise and Brynn Mays and nephews Tony Prantow, Terry Zimmerman, and Erin Zimmerman.
Robert will be laid to rest with military honors following a committal service at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 11am on Monday, March 14, 2022. Family and friends wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery.
