Rev. Eugene Harold Carls, 79, of Hazleton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, August 7th, 2020, following a two year illness.
Gene was born in Hazleton, on July 21, 1941, a son of the late Pearl (Schell) and Christopher Carls.
He was a graduate of the Anacostia High School in Washington DC and then went on to graduate from the Logos Bible Training Center in Pottsville.
Rev. Carls was the co-pastor and founder of Restoration Fellowship Ministries, which was established 35 years ago. He served the church up until 2018.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Carls in 1962.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, the Rev. Angela (Ackerman) Carls, and by his children, Michael Carls; Cheryl Carls Fritz; Kathy Carls Niles; Julie Carls Enck; David Carls; Dale Carls and Tommy Carls.
He is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Rev. Eugene will be laid to rest following private family services at the Nuremberg Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Sam Smucker of the Worship Center in Lancaster.
Rev. Eugene's family wishes to thank God for such a precious and loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His loving heart took care and provided for not only his family but for his church congregation whom he loved dearly.
