William 'Bill' Weikel, 87, of Zion Grove, passed away late Wednesday, August 16th, 2017.
He was born in Brandonville, PA on November 11, 1929, a son of the late Mary (Polatz) and Wallace Weikel.
Bill enlisted in the military in 1947 and proudly served his country for 23 years, retiring from the Unites States Air Force as a Sergeant in 1970. He then was employed by the J. Bass company in Hazleton as a machine operator. Bill enjoyed spending time and at Allen's Body Shop in Zion Grove, where he always found something to do.
He was a member of the Harry A. Kase Post 289, Ringtown American Legion, and the Five Quarts Association. Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman, and a member of the Ringtown Valley Sporting Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie (Shoup) Weikel in 2007, a son, William Weikel in 2013 and a sister Lorraine Weikel.
Bill is survived by a daughter, Deborah Burns, of Ringtown; a son, James Weikel, of Shenandoah; and a step sister, Barbara Suta, of Barnesville.
He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren along with nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 22nd, 2017 at 11 AM at the Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 West Main Street, Ringtown. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing Tuesday morning from 10-11 AM prior to the service.
Bill will be laid to rest with full military honors at the Brandonville Union Cemetery following the funeral service.
