Violet J. Fritz, 90, a former Shenandoah resident who recently resided in Pottsville, passed away Saturday.
Born in Phinneyville, March 21, 1924, Violet was a daughter of the late Bertha Deeble and Howard Delong. She was raised in Phinneyville and was a graduate of the former Sheppton High School.
Violet attended Trinity United Church of Christ, Shenandoah, and enjoyed crocheting, doing puzzles and was an avid bingo player.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Henry C. Fritz; a daughter, Judy Rose Fritz and a son, Roy Gene Fritz.
Violet is survived by two daughters, Violet, wife of Paul Harvey, Pottsville, and Linda, wife of Robert VanHorn, Orwigsburg; four sons, Charles Fritz and his wife, Marilyn, Maine, John Fritz and his wife, Cathy, Shenandoah, Allen Fritz and his wife, Sandee, Ringtown, and Henry Fritz and his wife, Adele, Frackville; a brother, Alvin Delong, Erwin; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 W. Main St., Ringtown, with Robert VanHorn, pastor of Community of Christ, Bloomsburg, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
