Ray A. Shoup Sr., 72, of Shenandoah, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday at his residence.
Born in Zion Grove, Nov. 21, 1943, he was a son of the late Dorothy Stauffer and Wilson Shoup.
He attended Ringtown High School and then enlisted in the Army.
Ray worked for J. Bass in West Hazleton and then retired from the former Sealy Components factory, Delano.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Carrie Weikel and Edith Shoup; two brothers, Wilson Shoup and Ronald Shoup.
Ray is survived by two sons, Keith Shoup, Shenandoah, and Ray A. Shoup Jr., Pottsville; four grandchildren, Ryan, Jade, Steven and Connor; a great-granddaughter, Nevaeh; two sisters, MaryAnne VanBlargan, Oneida, and Bonnie Shoup, Rock Glen; a brother, Harold (Peany) Shoup, Zion Grove.
A funeral service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 W. Main St., Ringtown.
