Nancy Gubala Blackwell, 73, of Shenandoah, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday.
Nancy was born in Coaldale, December 15, 1941, a daughter of the late Hattie Herring and Walter Blackwell.
Nancy worked in the local manufacturing industry, retiring from the Genova factory in Hazleton. She was also a former volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
She was a member of St. Mary Church, Ringtown. Nancy loved traveling and spending time at the beach.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers; Walter Blackwell, Claude Fisher and Ottis Fisher; sister, Judy Flaim.
Surviving are her children, Chris Gubala and his wife, Renee, Ringtown, Barbara, wife of Rob Baranowsky, Zion Grove, Lorraine Gubala and her companion, Michael Felegie Jr., Fern Glen, David Gubala and his companion Kelly Stabley, Ringtown, and RC Gubala and his wife, Trish, Florida.
She is also survived by her brothers; Clyde Fisher, Ringtown, and Ricky Fisher, Zion Grove; sister Joanne Platukis, Weston; loved grandchildren, Christopher Schlauch and wife Tanya, Ronie Gubala, Raymond Walsh, Matthew Schlauch, Samantha "Petunia" Williams and husband Josh, Dylan Baranowksky, Shawn Gubala and Brianna "Sweet Pea" Gubala; loved great-grandson, Jackson Schlauch; extended family and close friends, George "Kosmo" Kosmitsky, former husband, Eugene Gubala.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Church, North Center Street, Ringtown, with Father Jim Torpey officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Nancy's family from 10 a.m until the time of Mass Monday morning at the church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery, immediately following Mass.
