Obituary

Nadia Baskeyfield, 94, a resident of Ringtown, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, November 8, 2024, at Sunset Ridge Rehab and Healthcare Center in Bloomsburg.

Born in Shenandoah on November 14, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Skorupski) Adamiak. She was a 1947 graduate of West Mahanoy Township High School, and worked as a waitress in several local establishments including the Vernalis Restaurant in Shenandoah, where she met her future husband, Edward Baskeyfield. Together, they shared 64 years of marriage until he passed in 2017. During their lifetime together, they traveled extensively, by land and by sea, both in the United States and overseas, having visited Norway, Germany, Kuwait, Egypt, Israel and England just to name a few. Although a homemaker for many years, she went on to work in the local garment industry where she met many women, some of whom became her best friends.

She was a member of the former First Baptist Church in Shenandoah, and was also a member of the former Ringtown Women's Club. She also enjoyed crafting with her friends, baking and decorating cakes, making delicious chocolate fudge, watching sports (especially tennis) and the news, and listening to music from Beethoven to Johnny Cash. In her latter years, she enjoyed sending and appreciated receiving greeting cards from family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Adamiak, a sister, Vera Cuff and a nephew, John Cuff.

Nadia is survived by her daughter and caregiver, Beth, wife of Richard Roulin, Ringtown, and a son, Mark Baskeyfield and his wife Amani,  Maryland.  Three grandchildren survive, Shari Roulin, Pasadena, CA; Hallie, wife of Jason Corby, West Lawn, PA  and Matthew Roulin and his wife Kim, Ringtown. Four great-grandchildren, Ryane and Claire Corby and Daniel and Robert Roulin, along with nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Friday, November 15th, 2024 from 6-8 PM, which will be followed by a funeral service at 8 PM, at the Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 West Main Street, Ringtown.

Nadia will be laid to rest alongside her husband Edward at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville during private services. In lieu of flowers, Nadia's family would appreciate memorial donations be made to the Ringtown Area Library, PO Box 120, Ringtown, PA 17967.
