Joseph J. Tobin, 90, of Ringtown, passed away Thursday at Ridgeview Healthcare Center, Shenandoah.
He was born March 21, 1925, in Eagle Rock.
He served in the Navy as a Seaman 1st Class during World War II and was the proud recipient of five battle stars during his service.
A former resident of Mohnton, Joe served as captain of the fire police. He was retired having worked as a civilian employee for the federal government as manager of the firearms warehouse at Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville.
Joe attended the former St. Vincent Church, Maizeville, and he was a member of Ringtown American Legion.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Mae Rupert Tobin, Ringtown; and a son, Thomas Tobin, and his wife, Roberta, San Ramon, Calif.; a sister, Helen Shapanis, New Jersey; a brother, Edward Tobin, Mahanoy City; and three grandsons.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 W. Main St., Ringtown. A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Joseph will be laid to rest at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, following the service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, Ringtown.
