Joseph Careyva was born on February 2, 1958 and peacefully passed away on December 25, 2023 at Geisinger Medical Center.  He is the son of Anne and Joseph Careyva of Phineyville, PA.  He is preceded in death by his son Nicholas, sister Rosemarie, and father Joseph.

He is survived by his children, Beth and Mark with respective spouses Benjamin Bard and Amanda Brown, and his grandchildren, Ava Bard and Anna Careyva.  He is also survived by his siblings and their spouses Edward (Jill), Joann (Rick), Thomas (Oleysia), Scott (Renee), brother-in-law John, and many nieces and nephews.

His legacy of a love of farming and being outdoors lives on through his children, grandchildren, and all who knew him.  Those who knew him best will remember his love of family and enthusiasm for the harvest.  May he rest in eternal peace.

The funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on January 12, 2024 at St. Joseph's Church in Sheppton with visitation hour at 10 am followed by mass at 11 am.  Following mass, there will be a private burial service for family.   The Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home is honored to assist Joseph's family during this time of need.
