John Dennis Briggs, 79 of Douglassville, PA passed peacefully on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, surrounded by family and friends at Reading Hospital in West Reading, PA.

Born July 13, 1942, in Hazleton, PA, he was the son of the late John Thomas Briggs and the late Alberta Bernice (Brobst) Briggs. He celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary in June with his wife Ruth Elizabeth (Deebel) Briggs.

He was the owner of Briggs and Associate, Douglassville, PA and Briggs Auto Parts, Birdsboro, PA.

He was a member of St. Paul's UCC, Pottstown, PA.

John enjoyed Western movies, coffee with friends and camping.

Surviving along with his wife are sons, Jeffrey J. husband of Irene Briggs of Birdsboro, PA and Gregory S. husband of Haley Briggs of Douglassville, PA, daughter, Bonnie S. Wieder of Birdsboro, PA, sisters, Cheryl Powis of Frackville, PA and Judy Taylor of Frackville, PA; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by sisters, Nancy Briggs, Diane Simms, and brother Donald Briggs.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at Dengler Funeral Home, 144 N. Spruce Street, Birdsboro, PA with a Masonic Service by Stichter Lodge #254 F & AM at 7:30 PM

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12 noon Friday, August 20, 2021 at the Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 West Main Street Ringtown, PA with the funeral service to follow at 12 noon, Rev. Jay Serafin will officiate.

Interment will be in Nuremberg Cemetery, Zion Grove, Schuylkill County, PA.
