Obituary

John J. Biros, 66, Husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather  and founder, owner of Biros Utilities, Inc. of Sheppton, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 5th, surrounded by his family.

John was the son of the late John Biros and Jean (Laskowski) Biros. He was a man who had a very strong work ethic that was developed while working along side his father at Biros Iron Works. He became a talented welder and fabricator. The strong work ethic he developed at an early age made him become a man who didn't like to try doing things, he did them. To people who knew him, he was a man with a very big heart. He was a strong supporter of our country and the troops that served and are serving. There was a time when the "Traveling Vietnam Wall" was in the Hazleton area and had several panels damaged due to a wind storm. John, along with his son Jonathan brought the damaged panels back to his garage and repaired and returned them so people could continue to visit the display. He soon ventured into larger business' in the septic and excavation services. This led him to forming the current portable restroom rental company, Biros Utilities Inc. He was very proud of the company he had built from the ground up. Though health struggles did persist over the last years of his life that included a courageous 9 year battle with cancer, he truly found joy in growing the company he loved and traveling with his wife. Seeing his grandchildren growing up would often bring a joyful tear to his eye. He grew a strong connection with his family in Slovakia and always enjoyed talking and visiting with them.

With a desire to be involved in his community he was in volved in multiple community groups and movements which led him into politics where he served as a three-term supervisor for East Union Township. As a supervisor he often performed numerous repairs to municipal equipment in good faith and never asked for compensation ever as he was so proud to represent his community. His Catholic faith guided him to be a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Church in Sheppton.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sibling, Joseph Biros, Linda Biros and George Biros, along with a great grandson, Anthony Biros.

John is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ann (Smulligan) Biros along with their children, Jonathan Biros, and wife Melissa, Stephen Biros and Jillian Pecika. Eight grandchildren survive, Jonalynn, Preston, Landon, Natalia, Madison, Teaghan, Jonathon and Alexander.

His sister, Margaret, wife of John Reznick, and two brothers, Michael Biros, and his wife Kimberly, and James Biros and companion Pam Eisman also survive, along with nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a loving extended family in Slovakia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church in Sheppton on Saturday, August 10th at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at the church from 9 AM until the time of the mass.

John will be laid to rest in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Sheppton, immediately following the mass.
