Obituary

Jean A Novak, 85, of Sheppton, passed away peacefully on April 8th, 2025, at Shenandoah Senior Living Community.

Jean was born in Mahanoy City in 1940, the daughter of the late Albert and Ethel (Farnsworth) Wagner. She was a graduate of the Mahanoy Area high school.

Jean spent much of her career at Hershey Foods, where she formed lasting friendships and made significant contributions to the company. Her strong work ethic and dedication were evident to everyone who worked with her, and she took great pride in her accomplishments.

Beyond her professional life, Jean was an avid traveler. She and her beloved husband, Joe traveled across the United States together, exploring new places, and making memories that they cherished forever. Whether it was a road trip through a new city, landmark, or their favorite destination, Disney World, she embraced every journey with enthusiasm and joy.

Jean had a special love for nature, and her garden was a reflection of that. Her love for flowers was well known, and she poured her heart into cultivating a space filled with vibrant colors and fragrant blooms. Roses, African Violets, and Orchids were her favorites.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Joseph Novak, two infant children Kevin and Renee Laudeman, a brother Edward Wagner, a sister Lorraine Heiser, and a grandson John Gustitis.

Jean is survived by her three children: Kimberly Furedi wife of Pam Little, Sheppton; Darrell Laudeman and his wife Kelly, Ringtown; and John Gustitus, Pottsville; her three grandchildren: Brian Furedi and his fiancé Laura Sees, Sheppton; Tyler Laudeman and his wife Emily, York, and  Danielle Laudeman and her fiancé Greg Merchlinsky, Williamsport. She is also survived by step-children Joseph Novak, Allentown; Cheryl Harvilla and her husband Anthony, Tresckow; granddaughters Nichole Novak, Lauren Harvilla, Lindsey Kick, husband Preston and great-grandchildren Betty and Reid Kick, and nieces and nephews.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose warmth, kindness, and love will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

In accordance with Jean's wishes, private services will be held by her immediate family.

The Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, Ringtown, is assisting Jean's family during their time of need.  You may leave an online condolence at www.ringtownfuneral.com
