Edward Allen Hornberger, 82, of Ringtown passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 7th, 2025 in Broad Mountain Nursing Home, Frackville.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Grover and Berdell (Kline) Hornberger and stepfather Ralph Wanner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother William Hornberger. Ed was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Brandonville
He was a member of the 509 Airborne troupe of the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany. After discharge from the Army, he worked at Standard Press Steel for 2 years before joining the PPL lineman crew where he worked for 37 years.
After retirement, Edward enjoyed his life hunting with his son and grandchildren, woodworking in his woodshop, and listening to old country music. He spent his time supporting his loving family. He was also a lifelong member of the Shenandoah Fish and Game Association.
Edward is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley Hornberger; his son and daughter in-law Lance and Paula Hornberger; His grandchildren: Austin (Victoria) Hornberger, Mitchell Hornberger (Danielle Swilley), Joyanne Hornberger (Josef Flail); his great granddaughters Macey Mae Hornberger and Makenna Anne Hornberger; his sister in-law Nancy Trim; his sister in-law and brother in-law Carol and Scott Sincavage; and his niece Paige Sincavage.
A Funeral Service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Brandonville on Friday, October 10th, 2025 at 11 AM.
A viewing will be held from 9-11 AM prior to the service at the church. Ed will be laid to rest immediately following the service at the Brandonville Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that a donation be made to St. John's Lutheran Church Brandonville or the Brandonville Union Sunday School.
The Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home is honored to assist Edwards family during their time of need.
