David William Smick, 81, of Zion Grove, passed into the hands of the Lord on December 21, 2017.
David was born in Zion Grove, on September 5, 1936, a of the late Creta and Donald Smick.
He was a graduate of the Nuremberg High School then proudly served as a military policeman in the United States Army from 1954 until 1957. David was employed by the United States Postal Service for 42 years, serving the rural community of Zion Grove.
A member of the Davis Chapel Church, he was always an exceptional provider and he enjoyed time with his family. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping. He also volunteered for many years as an umpire for the local amateur softball association.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Faye (Parr) Smick; his son, Dave Smick and wife Janet of Zion Grove; his granddaughter, Kimberly, wife of Raymond Jones of Ringtown; a sister Nancy Rupert of Bloomsburg and two great grandchildren, Olivia and Trevor. Nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 29th, 2017 at 11 AM at the Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 West Main Street, Ringtown. Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM prior to the service. It is the wish of David's family that they will provide flowers.
