Blanche L. "Babs" Grow, 93, of West Main Street, Ringtown, passed away peacefully Sunday.
Born in Ringtown, Dec. 28, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Martha Klingerman Long.
She was a 1938 graduate of Ringtown High School, a lifelong homemaker and also worked with her brother, James Long, in his former grocery store in Ringtown.
Blanche was a devout member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Ringtown, and was active with the Dorcas class and Ladies Aid groups.
She was a member of Ringtown Senior Citizens Club, Ringtown American Legion Auxiliary, a 70-year member of Order of the Eastern Star, Ashland Chapter 154 and also belonged to the Schuylkill Valley Past Matrons Association.
Blanche enjoyed traveling, especially on family vacations to Canada.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas P. Grow Sr., in 1992, and two brothers, James and Allen Long.
Blanche is survived by two daughters, Barbara, wife of Gary Wood, Ringtown, and Brenda J., wife of Keith Kahley, Harrisburg; a son, Thomas P. "T.P." Grow and his wife, Sara Jane, Ringtown; a sister, Helen Teter, Zion Grove; three sisters-in-law, Mary Long, Helen Grow and Peggy Kanigoski; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Ringtown, with Pastor Jay Serafin officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Stauffer-Brez-nik Funeral Home, 412 W. Main St., Ringtown, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church Building Fund, P.O.
