Obituary

Annabelle Louise Davis, 91, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday evening, July 14, at Grandview Nursing home, where she experienced loving care by the staff.  A graduate of the former Nuremberg High School, she worked at Fest Restaurant in Bloomsburg where she was courted by her future husband Nevin.  A life-long resident of Zion Grove, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Nevin Davis in 1996, her infant son Larry, and her parents, Guy and Olive Teter, sisters Elizabeth (Betty) Davis and Catherine (Kay) Schiefer.

The most important things in Annabelle's life were faith and family, which were evident through her actions.  She served her church in many capacities throughout her lifetime and her faith sustained her when the blows of life were dealt to her.  Her boys, Eugene and Donald, were her pride and joy, and when they brought their future wives (Linda and Wendy) to meet her, she welcomed them with open arms.  She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, content to sit and play games with them and put puzzles together.

Her cooking was legendary among her family and friends – especially her homemade bread and shoo fly pies.  She grew up in the depression era on a family dairy farm and was taught early on how to stretch food and money to make ends meet.  She was a very talented quilter and provided many as gifts to others.  She enjoyed crocheting and still had a work in progress.

For a 91 year old, she was amazing with her understanding of her iPad (her window to the world) and spent many enjoyable hours playing Words With Friends, completing virtual puzzles, and looking at and commenting on Facebook pictures.

She is survived by her sons Eugene (Linda), Donald (Wendy), grandchildren Brett (Virginia), Seth, Matthew (Maggie Abrams), and Anna (Nick Beaver).  She will be greatly missed by her great grandchildren Owen, Emmy, Griffin, Bennett, Nevin and Sourie.  Also, sister-in-law Christine Linde and brother-in-law Myron Davis.

A Celebration of Life will be held August 7, 2021 at St. Peter's Lutheran and UCC Church, 114 Beaver Valley Road, Bloomsburg PA 17815, at 11 a.m.  A time of visitation with the family is from 10-11 a.m. before the service.  Internment will be immediately following the service at the Davis Chapel Cemetery.  Her pastor, the Rev Christine Kirchner, will preside.

Donations in her honor can be made to St Peter's Lutheran Church at the above address.
