Ruth Zimmerman

Ruth Zimmerman, 86, of Bloomsburg, passed away Sunday, May 5th, at the Geisinger Medical Center,in Danville.

Ruth was born in Zion Grove, on March 23, 1933, a daughter of the late Laura (Lutz) and Jeremiah  Houser.

After graduating from the Nuremberg high school, she married William "Zip" Zimmerman and moved to the Souderton area, where she worked at Peerless Footwear in Telford, and at Walls Greenhouse.

After retiring, they moved back to the Bloomsburg area where she was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in  Espy.

Ruth enjoyed feeding and watching the birds along with gardening, quilting and reading.

She was preceded in death by her husband,  William 'Zip' Zimmerman in 2009. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Bruce Zimmerman, her son in law Rohn Burrage, and three brothers, Allen Houser, Alvin Houser and Luther Houser, along with a sister Dolores Maurer.

She is survived by a daughters,  Betsy, wife of  Terry Groff; and Laurie Burrage;
sons, William Zimmerman, Jr. and his wife Nancy;  Thomas Zimmerman and his wife Sandy;  Kenneth Zimmerman; David Zimmerman and his wife Christy and a brother Clyde Houser.

She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren along with nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 13th, 2019, at the Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 West Main Street, Ringtown, with her pastor, Gordon Smith officiating.

Realtives and friends are invited to call from 10 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home on Monday morning.

Ruth will be laid to rest alongside her husband at St. John's Cemetery in RIngtown, following the service.
