Reed Kahley, 83, of Ringtown, passed away Monday, August 14th,2017 at his residence.
Reed was born in Union Township, on April 7, 1934, a son of the late Myrtle (Reigel) and Amandus Kahley.
He was a 1952 graduate of the Con-Cen High School, and was a life long member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Ringtown, where he was a former member of the church council.
He was retired from the Ringtown Borough Water and Street Department and had previously worked as a dairy farmer, a welder and machinist for the Dana Corp. in Reading, and at the Labenberg Brothers Farm.
Reed was a member of the Ringtown Area Lions Club; He was a fifty year plus member for both the F&AM Lodge 737 and the Bloomsburg Caldwell Consistory; a 23 year member of the Rajah Shrine and a member of the Ringtown Valley Sporting Club.
He enjoyed traveling, camping and hunting, and had a special passion for fishing with his family and a host of friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son in law, George Herbein and a grandson, David Herbein.
Reed is survived by his wife, Lovell (Lindenmuth) Kahley, with who he celebrated 61 years of marriage on June 2nd of this year. He is survived by a daughter, Jewel, wife of Mark Tuberty, of Zion Grove; and two sons, Kevin Kahley and his wife Penny, of Fayetteville, GA and Keith Kahley and his wife Brenda, of New Bloomfield.
He is also survived by grandchildren, Andrew, Thomas and Mark Herbein; Sara Turk; Ruthanne, Martha and Zachary Kahley; Astrida Curis, along with 5 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A brother in in law Bruce Lindenmuth, and his wife Ruthanne of Rittman, Ohio also survives, as does his cousin who was like a brother to him, Furn Fuhrman, and his wife Claudine of Bethlehem.
A Funeral Service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Ringtown, at 11 AM on Thursday, August 17th, with Pastor Jay Serafin officiating.
Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing Wednesday evening from 6-9 PM at the Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 West Main Street, Ringtown and again on Thursday morning from 10-11 AM at the church prior to the service.
Reed will be laid to rest at St. John's Cemetery in Ringtown, following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Reed are asked to be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 106 West Main Street, Ringtown.
