GUY 'NUNO' GILBERT
Guy (Nuno) Gilbert, 86, of 28 Wood Street Ringtown, passed away Sunday evening at his residence.
Guy was born in Ringtown, PA on April 16, 1922, the son of the late Harry and Daisy (Mummey) Gilbert.
He attended the Ringtown High School, and then served in the United States Army overseas during WWII, receiving the Purple Heart Medal.
He worked 22 years on the farm of Ray Hetherington, then later for 24 years working both Dreshers Farm and the Union Tonwship road crew.
A life member of the Ringtown Valley Fire and Rescue Company he also belonged to the Brandonville Fire Company, and the Shenandoah Fish and Game Club.
Guy was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Gilbert on May 1, 1982. He was also preceded in death by a brother John, and a daughter Tina.
Guy is survived by five daughters, Phyllis Ruskuski of Lost Creek, Patti Gilbert, Cindy Arias, and Holly Gilbert all of Ringtown and Brenda Gilbert of Shenandoah. Three sons survive, Barry and his wife, Shirley and Joseph Sr. and his wife Robin all of Ringtown and Edward of Orwigsburg. Guy is also survived by two sisters, Bessie Davidson of Sheppton, Carrie Houser of Ashland and a brother, Thomas Gilbert of Mahanoy City. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday evening at 8 PM at the Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 West Main Street, Ringtown, Relatives and friends are invited to call from 5 PM until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
