SOPHIE ZUBER

Sophie A. Zuber, 87, of 15 West Spruce Street, Ringtown, passed away on Tuesday, at the Broad Mt. Manor Nursing & Rehab. Center in Frackville, where she was currently a guest.

Sophie was born in Turkey Run, on October 2, 1920, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Kmak) Sekula. She lived in New Jersey prior to relocating to Brandonville in 1987.

She was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Ringtown.

During WWII she worked at the Philadelphia Naval Yard as a riveter building the PBY Catalina's, becoming one of the well known "Rosie the Riveters." She enjoyed sewing and was a avid gardner and pinnochle player. She and her husband were members of the DIsabled American Veterans.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edward P. Zuber in 2002 and a brother, Edward Sekula, and sisters, Lottie Liss, Rose Lishman, and Catherine Fritz.

Sophie is survived by three sons Edward and his wife Kay, of Ringtown, Michael of Brandonville, Thomas and his wife Catherine of Beverly, NJ and a sister, Anna Kaczmarczyk of Brandonville. Grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, North Center Street, Ringtown, at 10 AM on Saturday, May 10th, with Rev. Richard Schware officiating. Burial will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights immediately after the mass.

Relatives and friends are invited to call Friday evening from 6-8 PM and again on Saturday morning from 9- 9:30 AM at the Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 West Main Street, Ringtown.
