
Paul A. Shockites, 94, of West Main Street Ringtown, passed away Tuesday, afternoon at the Schuylkill Center in Pottsville where he was currently a guest.
Paul was born in Shenandoah, on November 11, 1913, the son of the late Anthony and Blanche (Guiness) Shockites.
He was a 1931 graduate of the JW Cooper High School in Shenandoah and then attended Bowmans watchmaking school in Lancaster, PA. He then opened a small watch repair shop in Shenandoah in 1936. During WWII he was drafted to the United States Army, during which he served as a Staff Sergeant before being honorably discharged. Upon returning to Shenandoah he opened Shockites Jewellers at 11 West Center Street in 1952. After 34 years in business, he retired in 1986.
Paul was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Ringtown, where he served as a lector. He also was a memeber of the Catholic War Veterans and the Ringtown American Legion.
An avid golfer, Paul also enjoyed being outdoors hiking, and bowling.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Regina (Slegesky) Shockites, a son, Mark, and his wife Stephanie, of Coatesville, PA along with two grandsons, Peter and Stephen and his wife, Tara.
Two great grandchildren also survive, August and Zoe.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 82 North Center Street, Ringtown, at 10 AM on Saturday, March 1st, with Rev. Richard Schware officiating. Paul's family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Saturday morning from 9 - 10 AM prior to mass. There will be no services at the funeral home.
Burial with miIlitary honors will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights, immediately following the Mass.
In Lieu of Flowers, Paul's family requests that memorial donations in memory of Paul be made to St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 82 North Center Street, Ringtown, PA 17967.
