FRANK BREZNIK, JR.

Frank Breznik, Jr., Retired Pennsylvania State Police, of West Cherry Street, Shenandoah passed away late Monday evening at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Pottsville, at the age of 77.

Frank was born in Shenandoah, on May 20, 1930, the son of the late Frank and Mary (Sholtis) Breznik.

He graduated from the West Mahanoy Township High School in 1948, and then enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed with the military police at Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, Florida.

In 1952, he graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in Hershey, and was assigned to traffic as a Trooper at various barracks around the state including Butler, Mercer, New Castle, Montoursville, York, Reading, Shamokin and Frackville. He was transfered to the Criminal Investigation Unit for the later part of his career at Frackville, then retiring as Criminal Investigator in 1980.

He was a member of St. Michael's Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Shenandoah.

He is a lifetime member of the PSP Melley Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #65, Bethel, PA; a member of the Pennsylvania State Troopers Association, Harrisburg; a former member of the American Legion Post #231, Kulpmont; Amvets Post, Shenandoah, the Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees and the American Association of State Troopers.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by a brother in infancy, and a brother Leo.

Surviving is a brother, Albert and his wife, Alice, of Ringtown, both of whom were his caregivers. He is also survived by his nephews, John and Stephen, Albert Jr., and his fiancee, Brenda, and a niece Cynthia, and her husband George Carado, along with their children, Andrew and Kyla.

Frank is also survived by several aunts, and he leaves behind many close friends whom he cared for greatly.

The Divine Liturgy with Office of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Shenandoah, at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 26th. Interment will be in the parish cemetery immediatley following the Mass.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Friday evening from 5-9 PM at Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 West Main Street, Ringtown. A Parastas Service will be held at 7 PM Friday evening.
