
William A. Lorah, Sr., 70, of Lumpy Lane, Ringtown. passed away unexpectedly Friday at his residence.
Born in Shenandoah, PA on August 7, 1939, the son of the late Albert and Laura (Morell) Lorah. He was a graduate of the former Mahanoy City High School and then served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
A former resident of Shenandoah, he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He spent time playing bingo and bowling and he enjoyed his granddaughters Kaitlyn and Heather and his dogs, Scooby and Milky. He was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Ringtown, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister . He was a member of the Park Crest Fish and Game Club and the Mahanoy City American Legion.
Prior to retirement, he worked as a wrapping mechanic at the Hershey Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara and Lorraine Lorah.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline (Mickalowski) Lorah. They would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on December 22nd. William is survived by his son, William Lorah Jr. and his wife Marjorie along with their two daughters, Kaitlyn and Heather, of Ringtown. Bill is also survived by three sisters, Grace Possessky, Carol Geleski, Linda Lorah, and a brother, Ronald Lorah all of Ringtown. He is also survived by his mother in-law, Elizabeth Mickalowski of Shenandoah along with nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, North Center Street, Ringtown, at 10 AM on Tuesday, November 3rd, with Rev. Richard Schware officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Monday evening from 5-9 PM and again on Tuesday morning from 9-9:45 AM at Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 West Main Street, Ringtown.
Burial will take place in the parish cemetery in Ringtown immediately following the mass.
In lieu of flowers, Bill's family asks that memorial donations in his memory be made to St. Mary's Church, Ringtown, the Ringtown Area Library, or the Ringtown Ambulance Association.
