JOHN 'JACK' ONUSCHAK

John 'Jack' Onuschak, 76, of 3rd Street ,Oneida, passed away Thursday morning at the Hazleton General Hospital.

Born in Sheppton on November 7, 1932, he was the son of the late John and Clara (Sharafransky) Onuschack.

Jack was a graduate of the former Sheppton High School then he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

He was retired, having worked as a machine operator for Hershey Foods USA of Hazleton. He enjoyed shooting darts and was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, along with being a hunter and fisherman.

On July 16th, he and his wife, Betty (Bley) Onuschak celebrated 55 years of marriage.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John R., in 1958.

Jack is survived by a daughter, Nancy Rentschler of Oneida, and two sons, David Onuschak of Fairbanks, Alaska and William Onuschak of Hazleton. He is also survived by a sister, Dolores Hornack and a brother, Robert Onuschak both of Hazleton. 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren survive as do nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Brandonville at 11 AM on Tuesday, with Rev. Jay Serafin officiating.

Relatives and friends are invited to call Monday evening from 6-8 PM at Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 West Main Street, Ringtown, and again Tuesday morning from 10 AM until the time of the service at the Church in Brandonville. Burial will take place at Girard Manor Cemetery immediately following the service.
