ALBERTA CIERZNIEWSKI
Alberta Cierzniewski, 91, a resident of Gordon passed away late Monday evening, August 24th, 2009 at Shenandoah Manor Nursing Center where she was recently a guest.
Alberta was born in Shenandoah, PA on May 25, 1918, the daughter of the late Michael and Anna Nojunas.
Alberta was raised in Girardville, married her late husband, Valentine (Walter) Cierzniewski and moved to New York. She was employed as a secretary for the Van Heusen Corporation until her retirement when then she moved back to Girardville.
She was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Church in Girardville.
In addition to her husband who died in 1988, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters: Edward and William Nojunas, Beatrice Salukas and Anna Keck. 1 grandson, Troy Cunningham also preceded her in death.
Alberta is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Klemo of Gordon and Jean Cestaro of North Carolina. Four grandchildren survive, Lisa, wife of Paul Cheddar and their son Chris whom she resided with in Gordon; Edward Cunningham, Falls Church, VA; Gary and his wife, Paula Cunningham, Fairfax, VA, and Sandy, wife of David Wiley, Girardville. She is also survived by greatgrandchildren - Justin, Chris, Connor, and Adam Cunningham and Shane Dalley and David Wiley.
Alberta is also survived by a sister, Mary Malinchok of Frackville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at St. Vincent DePaul, Second Street, Girardville at 11 AM on Monday, August 31st.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Sunday evening from 6-9 PM and again Monday morning from 9:30-10:30 AM at Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 West Main Street, Ringtown.
Burial will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Ft. Springs.
