Eugene W. Steiner

Eugene W. Steiner, 85, of  Zion Grove, passed away Monday morning, August 1st, 2016.

Eugene was born in Little Ferry, NJ on January 7, 1931, a son of the late Annabelle (Lauer) and Francis  Steiner.

He attended school in South River, New Jersey and then served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army.

He and his wife moved to the Zion grove area, where they owned and operated Steiners General Store until their retirement in the early 1990's. 

Eugene enjoyed vegetable gardening and spent many hours pursing his hobby, metal detecting.

In addition to his paretns, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Nathan.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Holmes) Steiner and by his children, Julie, wife of  Bob Zehner, of Zion Grove;  Tracy Steiner, of Florida;  Lori, wife of  Fred Stauffer, of Zion Grove; Todd, and his wife Wendy Locher, of Berwick; Scott, and his wife Anne Locher, of Mahanoy City.

Eugene is also survived by a sister, Joyce, wife of  Frank Reese, of New Jersey, and by nine grandchildren, one great granddaughter and is also expecting the arrival of another great grandchild. 

A Memorial Service will be held at the Aurand Memorial United Methodist Church at 11 AM on Saturday, August 6th, followed by interment in the Methodist Cemetery in Ringtown.

Friends are invited to visit with Eugene's family on Saturday morning from 9-11 AM at the church, prior to the service.
